Ear Piercings

Hi everyone,

So, you probably know that there are SO many different places on your body that you can get pierced! This page will hopefully give you a better idea of some common piercings you can get done on your ears and what they are called. I originally tried to put ALL piercings on one page, but then thought it would be a lot easier to divide them into different pages.
Hope you enjoy!

Ear Piercings

Lobe
The most common piercing. Nearly every women, and some men have one of these in western society. You can get up to three lobe piercings on one ear before you run into cartilage. If taken proper care of, these can heal in between 3-6 weeks. You can get a vertical lobe piercing which goes through the cartilage behind your lobe and will take as long as any other cartilage piercing to heal.

Helix (Cartilage)
The helix piercing can run anywhere along the outside edge of the ear from the ending of the lobe to where the ear onnects to your head. Being cartilage, they require at least a 1.2mm (16 ga) to pierce through. They are also take quite a long time to heal, which can range from as little as 2 months, to about a year.

Tragus
The tragus is the small piece of cartilage extruding from the side of the head. It is very close to the ear canal. This has a vertical alternative too.

Snug
The snug is a thick rim of cartilage near the outside of the ear.

Rook
The rook is the same rim of cartilage as the snug, but closer to the in canal.

Daith
The daith is a small piece of cartilage situated right near the inner ear canal.

Conch
A conch piercing goes straight through the main piece of cartilage that makes up the ear.
